Can you set the default church member type to something other than unknown?
You cannot remove the Unknown Member Type.
If you are looking for a way to change everyone with "unknown" to "guest":
- Go to Reports, Members, select Mass Update Member Attribute.
- Choose Church Member Type from the "Select an attribute that will be updated" drop down menu, then choose Guest from the "Select the attribute value" menu.
- In the middle Filters column, click the blue Members filter bar, then Church Member Types > Selected church member types. Check Unknown (to filter this mass change action to only affect the individuals in the database who currently have the Unknown church member type).
- Run report.
- The screen will give you a warning of how many individuals will have a change to their Church Member Type. If you are satisfied and ready to proceed, click Update to make the change, or click the button labeled "Display list of members to be updated" to preview them first.
You can customize a check-in view so that when you enter someone, it will automatically assign them to any church member type you want. This is done under Check-in > Views/Settings, section D3. So, if you do your data entry for Sunday response cards using the check-in system, it will automatically assign them to the member type you set in that check-in view. This would be true of new families you enter on Sundays at check-in as well.
