How to set up your church domain (web address), email, and website.

Pick a domain name. Set up email through Google or Microsoft. Have us connect it to your Churchteams website.

If your church does not yet have its own domain name for email addresses and your church website, Churchteams can help.  Here are the steps to get you set up.

Get your church domain name.

  1. If you choose to use Google Workspace you can select your domain name as part of the process.  You might get it cheaper through Godaddy.com.
  2. Go to Godaddy.com and login or create an account.
  3. Search for a domain name that you like and follow the steps to buy it.  You can skip the add on products and services if you would like.  You can add them later if desired.

Set up your church email address.

  1. Churchteams uses Google Workspace but you may prefer Microsoft.  This article compares the two.  It recommends Google Workspace as the easier tool to learn and use.
  2. This Google article will walk you through the steps to setup and assign email addresses using your church domain name using Workspace.  Here are the steps I took to do this.
    1. Go to workspace.google.com and follow Get Started instructions.  Use your current email (gmail) account.
    2. Select option to select your domain or to use the one you already have or created (above).  Follow instructions.
    3. Google had some add on options that we skipped.  The first 2 weeks are free, but there is a small monthly fee for the service.
    4. Google linked directly to Godaddy to verify ownership of the domain name.
    5. Once your email address is set up with your new domain name, go to mail.google.com to login using your new email address and the password you just set up.
    6. Save this link for quick access to your email from this domain.
    7. If you already have a Gmail address, click your account in the top right of your inbox and then Add your new church domain account.  You will use this to switch back and forth between your personal email and your church email.
  3. The video and instructions in this Microsoft article will walk you through the steps to set up and customize emails with your domain name.
