Downloading the Churchteams Member App and Staff Access
The Churchteams Member App is a Progressive Web App, so it is not one that you will purchase or download through the App or Google Play store. This tutorial provides 4 ways someone can get the Churchteams App.
In your public communication about it, we recommend telling people they will see it when they respond to a volunteer request or log in as a donor. But you can also ask them to text ME to your Text-to-Church number or email an invitation to install the App. We also recommend that you note to your church-goers that the login credentials are the same email and password a person used when they set up their online giving account. If someone does not have an online giving account, they can click "Forgot Password" on the login page and follow the instructions in the email that will be sent to them.
*To allow guests, or those not already in your database to set up a Member Profile and download the Member App, you must first go to Communicate > Text > Settings. Select the Connection Card group in the dropdown menu for Text-to-ME Guest Registration.
Below are the four ways people can access the app and the option to install it, along with information about the added benefit of staff access. In addition, you may find this App Installation Tutorial & Video helpful.

Staff Access through the Member App
1. Texting "ME" to your Text-to-Church number.
Anyone can text "ME" to your Text-to-Church number to get the Churchteams App. For anyone not already in your database, a link will be returned connecting them to register their information, and a verification email will be sent. Once they open the verification email from their phone and click Verify, the App will open for installation.
Texting ME by someone already in the database returns a member update link, which opens the App for installation.
2. Using Email to send a link for the App
This is a staff-initiated approach of sending an email asking the recipient(s) to access the Member App and/or update their information. You can send out the invite in mass, through a group, or to a specific individual.
Inviting people through Mass Email (Reports):
-
- Go to Reports > New > Communication > Email Request for Updated Information and select "Access Member App."
- Then, filter by those you want to invite to access the App.
- Run the report.
- Create the email template with the merge tag in the greeting and the merge tag in the content. (You must include both of these merge tags.)
- Save this email as a template for future use.
- Send or schedule the email.
Inviting people through Groups:
-
- Go to the Group you want to invite.
- Click the blue Communicate button, then choose "Evite to update info/member app" and Confirm.
- Edit the Email Template as you wish, but be sure to leave the and the tags in the text.
Inviting an Individual:
-
- Go to the Member's Information Page
- Click the button/dropdown menu to Invite to Update, then "Info / Member App."
- Edit the Email Template as you wish, but be sure to leave the and the tags in the text.
3. Respond to a volunteer invitation or reminder.
Whenever you create a volunteer schedule and send out invitations, volunteers will see the Install App button at the top of the page. Having the App installed allows for quick access to their serving schedule.
4. Online giving login.
When a donor clicks the option to log in to their online giving, they can select the "Manage" option, then "Activity" to get to and install the Member App.If you have trouble saving your login credentials in the app, refer to these instructions for auto-filling and/or saving passwords in your phone's browser.
Notes for Staff Access within the Member App
Any person with a staff login (staff and other key leaders with a User Account) will have access to their own Member page and additional staff features. You must use your unique staff login credentials.
Combined Member/Staff Access
Using your staff credentials logs you into the Member App and mobile-friendly Staff access.
Only those who log in with their staff credentials will see the staff search bar and menu at the top of the Member App screen. This is a convenient way for staff to have access to these important features while also being able to manage their member information.
The down arrow in the top right corner will expand the mobile-friendly staff menu.
Mobile-Friendly Staff Menu
The hamburger (three-line) menu remains in the upper right corner while you are on any staff page.
Use this menu to take you to any other mobile-friendly staff feature or return to the Member App.
